  • Just before you hit send, proofreading is your final quality check.

    This review ensures your content expertise and message are fully supported with correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, as well as cohesive tense, tone and formatting.

  • Proofreading ensures your professionalism translates to paper.

    Minor errors devalue your expertise, drawing focus away from content. It’s also a great opportunity to sense check - at this point, you’ve read your own words so many times you will likely miss obvious mistakes. A review from a fresh, and adept pair of eyes safeguard your business image and voice.

  • Once you’ve written and redrafted multiple times, and you feel almost ready to publish or hit send.

  • Proofreading is the final polish up, suitable only for a near finished product.

    Copy editing can take place anywhere in the drafting process, meaning intentions and scope can be far more varied. Have a look at my ‘Editing’ page to find out more.

So, what’s the process?

  • Your Enquiry

    This form establishes your high-level project information, sharing basic details about yourself, the project requirements, intentions and deadlines.

  • Follow-up

    I engage to establish firm detail about your project, understanding your brand voice and any writing challenges. This allows for a tailored review.

  • My Amendments

    I proofread in alignment with your brief. Return will depend on the scope of works agreed in our follow up, though I typically offer a one-week turnaround.

  • Collaborative Review

    I return the amended copy for your review, with a window of 24 working hours for minimal desired changes or queries.

  • And, it's done

    The copy is finalised, with your piece tuned up and ready to go.

Pricing

Proofreading services are typically more standardised than editing, which makes pricing more straightforward.

These rates are formed line with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) guidelines regarding minimum hourly charge**

Proofread FAQs

  • Technical subject matter, stringent brand guidelines and higher quantities mistakes are just a few reasons that extended proofreading may be required.

    On average, I can proofread 2000 words an hour.

    Once you send me your enquiry, a quick review will enable me to give you a solid rate - I’ll explain why alongside my price!

  • Once agreed, payment will be paid 50% at the start, and the final 50% upon completion.

  • I don’t offer sample editing for proofreading service, since it would result in a final piece.

    Portfolio samples will be coming soon though, so watch this space!

  • For longer running projects, we will agree rates based on your requirements.

    The prices above will be used as a baseline.
